Employment Projections
Between 1998 and 2008, the Albuquerque Metro area is expected to generate about 89,950 new jobs. This represents growth of roughly 25 percent, which is considerably higher than the projected national growth of 14 percent. The largest increase in actual jobs will be in the Services industry followed by the Trade industry. Although the greatest percent change in job growth will also be in the Services industry the second greatest percent change is in Construction rather than Trade. Large residential projects on Albuquerque’s west side and south side account for a great part of the construction employment push.
